The SFWMD Land Stewardship Program successfully restored this donated, former ranch-land, back to its natural ecological state. The original DuPuis family ranch home is the visitor center and Reserve Management Headquarters. “Native Habitats” identifies the primary ecosystems and indicator species found on the property. Exhibits showcase native plants and animals in vignettes, in three adjacent rooms, totaling approximately1,600ft2. Exterior venues on the property include a butterfly garden, nature walk, seven-mile drive-through scenic trail, wilderness hiking, and horseback trails on the shores of Lake Okeechobee. Paris Design worked closely with the SFWMD to accommodate an extremely tight budget. Together with DuPuis Reserve staff, many exhibit components were accomplished at the facility. Installation and set decoration was completed in 4 days.
