Living in the Everglades

Museum of Discovery and Science,
Fort Lauderdale, FL

How water flows through the Everglades, and its importance to the diversity of life in south Florida is interpreted in this exhibit. Positioned to allow students and families  to become more aware of their individual connection to this fragile ecosystem, visitors are invited to become stewards of the Everglades.

“Living in the Everglades” brightly bridges the museum’s existing live habitat area to the new Ecoscapes Garden outside. Exterior signage extends the exhibit out into the garden where visitors are encouraged to recognize distinct local ecosystems.

The exhibit was completed under estimated budget, and the colorful truss and graphic panels serve as a model for similarly themed displays planned for other sites.
